Running is the easiest and cheapest way to maintain immune system, burn calories, and boost energy. When you run on treadmill, you can control your running distance, your speed, and your burned calorie. However, running on jogging track is different feeling and experience. You cannot control your speed, distance traveled, calories burn, and running time.

The most popular choice of running app amongst runners and athletes is RunKeeper, which was debuted in 2008. Since then, the app has been continuously developed to provide convenience experiences for users. RunKeeper is available for Android and iOS users and has rich features to track running, jogging, cycling, and hiking through smartphone's GPS. RunKeeper's GPS mapping gives the view of chosen route while running, even in unfamiliar places, or hiking off the beaten path. The app will record your pace, distance, total exercise time, calories burned, and other useful metrics, while also allowing you to take and tag pictures on the go.

You can customized your own training program and goal with RunKeeper. There are currently 4 training plans: Do a Race, Learn to Run, Get Fit, and Lose Weight, which are designed by professional training coach like American Olympian, Jeff Galloway and Wellness Expert, Mike Deibler. The app is connected to other fitness service, Lose It! and MyFitnessPal to measure your daily calorie intake and outflow.

RunKeeper comes in two version: a free one and Elite membership (9,99/month or 39,99/year). The Elite memberships deeper statistics, a goal coach, premium training plans, and the ability to broadcast your runs live on the internet. You can pay for the membership through an in-app purchase (IAP) or on RunKeeper's website.
